4 more sleeps, lets get prepared

Only 4 more sleeps, until our road trip. Travelling to destinations by car gives you the added advantage of time to get to know your fellow passengers, chance to catch up on that Podcast you haven’t had time to listen to, take a whole lot of shit you have to leave behind when travelling by plane, train or boat!

Some friendly reminders on what that useful shit could be;

  • Your favourite tea bags, chai or coffee
  • Your favourite condiments
  • Your favourite pillow
  • A big towel if you are partial to bath sheets rather than loin cloths provided
  • Teapot, for the tea snobs that only like tea leaves
  • Fishing Rods and tackle
  • Boogie boards
  • Paddle boards (if they fit)
  • Kayaks (if there is room)
  • Power board to charge all of your devices via a single power point

Expenses

For Caz who is a newbie to the Thompson Tours, how we operate is that for anything that you buy, pay for that is a shared expense you add it to the App via the Add Expense button and put in the amount and ensure the Yes is ticked next to those sharing the expense. So if Caz, Sue, Jen and Neil have lunch without Shaz and John and it costs $50 and Caz paid for it – Caz goes into the app and adds the expense and ticks No against Shaz and John. The cost of 12.50 will be added to Caz, Sue, Jen and Neil and $50 credited to Caz.

When you first go on a trip you feel bad about putting in the coffees “its only $23” then the system doesn’t work – if the group knows that all expenses go in, then there is zero fuss about who pays and it works really well. So if you pay for something add the expense and just mark down and it will be tickety boo.

To view the ins and outs of what is owed or what you owe – select the Kitty option in the App.

Shopping and Provisions

So that we don’t duplicate, there is a Shopping list on the App – please add and mark off as things are bought. Whenever anyone is at the shops, if they can check the app that would be great. Prior to Sat am – please can you enter any special requests mainly for Breakfast as I will pre cook a meal for our first night – we then have time to shop on Monday morning as we are only teeing off at 1pm.

Golf, Groups and Competitions

Golf is booked for everyone on all of the days and there is a running competition and the all important non-competitive Ryder Cup (Girls vs Boys). Each day there is a specified comp and a prize pool – the cost of the prize pool is split by all (so if you opt not to play, you still help fund our comp pool).

Playing groups are shared around and set. For this trip they are set as three’s with Sue and Caz not playing with each other as they are walking and that way we only need two carts (one per group).

To see the Tally of Prizes – please check the Leaderboard on the App.

Next up…

Our first tee time at Calderwood Valley is at 10:30am – it is an approximate 1.5 hrs driving time from Waverton (probably an hour for Caz….), so we will see you at Calderwood Valley for 10 – 10:15am.
